Alex
Prince is the daughter of a member of a brasilian dance formation.
Her mother met her father in 1970 in Hamburg and Alex was born in
1975 in Hamburg-Altona. Her mother learned her the portugese language.
Also from her mother she got the brasilian charme and her big talent
for music! First Alex wanted to be a dancer, like her mother, but
then she started singing and loved it from the first second!
Her career as a singer started in a brasilian karaoke bar in Hamburg,
before she started to tour with a brasilian music group. But then
she realized that she had no chance to push her carreer with singin
brasil songs, so she started to search a pop producer. She met Toni
Cottura in a club in Hamburg and that is how Alex got her first contract
with Booya.
During the first month, no releases were planned, till Toni Cottura
called her one night and said: “Come to the studio immediately,
i got a song and i need your voice". The song was the Nana song
“Lonely” which was don't need further presentation, right?
;)
The time with Nana was for Alex a very important time, because she
met Mazaya, another member of the Booya family. Because of Nana, Alex
Prince and Mazaya got very famous and the time was right to release
their first own single - "How we livin'", wich was 16 weeks
in the top 100 in germany.
Alex favourit singers are the famous Donna Summer and Tina Turner,
but also less famous brasilian singers like Daniela Mercury or Marisa
Monte.
Alex private life was also very sucessfull. Her first son was born
at the 25th April in 1999.
Her first solo album is ready, with a lot of R&B, Soul and Hip
Hop influences. The second single of the album was "Whatever"
and was released in 1999. Sadly, after that, as you all know, Booya
spiltted up, and Alex album never got released.
Rumours say that she also was the main voice behind Sqeezer and Blumchen. If you believe that, or not, it's up to you, but you can listen to their songs and hear the similarity in the voices.
She continued off course in the music business and featured on the
R'n'G song "Are You Down?", that was on their album "The
Right Time", which was released in 2001.
In 2003, she also hooked up again with Nana, for the song "Thin Line". Unfortunately, that version didn't feature on Nana's 3rd album "All Doors In Flight No.7".
Alex also featured on the Nalin & Kane Vs. Denise The Menace song
"Crusin'" in the end od 2003. It is a fantastic dance song
with great voice of Alex. And that's where she started to go more dance, then rap/hiphop.
The latest years she has moved more and more to dance & housemusic, releasing songs under the name "Alexandra Prince". You can check her official website for more info: www.alexandraprince.com
We all hope that she will come back to the eurorap scene again.
