He is
21 years old, has german and tunisian roots and a voice
making even Stevie Wonder show respect. This was discovered years
ago by Toni Cottura and since then he kept DAIZZ under his musical
wings. On September 9th the Debut-Single "Didn't I" by DAIZZ
is
going to be released. A groovy R&B / Reggea track with hit-potential
that won't leave your ears anytime soon. A catchy song with a first
class chorus and extra ordinary trumpet arrangements.
DAIZZ
was born on November 6th 1983 in Cologne (Germany) and was raised
in Ehrenfeld, a part of Cologne, under humble circumstances. He had
to
adjust to a rough social life very early and learned how to get things
done
his ways:
"I don't want to compare my childhood with those from american
ghettos but there is definately no doubt about certain similarities.
I spent
more time on the streets than at home or in school."On the streets,
DAIZZ got in touch with the growing HipHop- and R&B-Subculture
very fast and fell in love with it even faster. He knew - this is
it:
"I saw a lot of my friends going the "wrong way", that's
why I'm happy that music gave me strength and comfort. This experience helped me a lot, 'cause
I had to
deal with a lot of pain. At the same time, it made as strong as I
am today."
Since he has
been infected by the "music virus", he took the tapes from
his two
older brother's without leeting them know and listened to them in
his walkman
for hours and tried to sing along."Actually, I was ashamed to sing for other people so at first
I sang only for
myself until my brother walked in on me singing when I was 11."
He was so
surprised and impressed by his little brother's voice that he started
to
support young DAIZZ.
DAIZZ' older
brother, who was some kind of role-model since he was a
singer and dancer, took him to local events and newcomer-contests.
"From the moment I was on stage and could convince the crowd
with my
skills I knew that's what I wanna do: to be on stage and to sing."
DAIZZ got to
know various producers, worked a lot in studios and tried many things.
But "somehow, most of them tried to turn me into something like
a german
Aaron Carter, who was very famous back then", remembers DAIZZ.
Today he knows
what he wants and where he wants to go, "I'm glad it didn't work
out for me before."
One day, DAIZZ
accidently ran into a professional Management (PMC) that finally
introduced him to the well known producer Toni Cottura. He felt that
Toni Cottura
understood him from the first moment.
At first, DAIZZ
tried to start his career with the artistname ZEE. He concentrated
on german songs, because DAIZZ was inspired by many german artists
at that time."We recorded a lot of songs in that time - english and german,
but right now I prefer
kicking my lyrics in english. I don't know how I'm gonna develope
in the future,
therefore I don't want to stick to one thing, both musically and lyrically.
DAIZZ
came to the conclusion that the language you sing in is not important
but in the end, the song and the feeling counts. "The name DAIZZ
is my birthname read reversed; originally I'm called Ziad, meaning
something like ´more, higher, farer´ in arabic. That's
the way I am: I always try to give everything I got."
Toni
Cottura says about DAIZZ: "I've never worked with such a young,
extra-ordinary talent like DAIZZ before. He has a fascinating voice
and he doesn't belong to the
group of artists who come into the studio and record ready-made songs,
he is
absolutely involved in the creative process. We inspire each other
musically and lyrically. I think with this kind of talent you can
turn your calling into a job."
Even though he
gets lots of compliments, DAIZZ stays decent: "I don't think
about
the things that might happen in the future. The most important thing
for me right
now is that I can make the music I love and feel, that my music can
carry
people along - that would be the greatest success for me."
